Letters to the Editor for Thursday, November 19, 2009
Writer: Quit ragging on LU students I am not affiliated with Thomas Road Church or Liberty University in any way. If you are one of the people so angry that LU students dared to exercise their right to vote, and horror of horrors, rode buses to the polls, where was your ire when people were bused to the polls last year to vote in other precincts? If you don't like Liberty University, don't enroll.

Clemson smashes Liberty, 79-39
On Tuesday, Liberty University's administration allowed students to miss their 9:15 and 10:50 a.m. classes to attend the Flames' morning basketball game against 22nd-ranked Clemson University -- with one caveat. The outcome was never in doubt Tuesday, as the Tigers routed Liberty 79-39, the second-worst home defeat in the Flames' Division I era. Liberty shot 30.4 percent, turned it over 28 times (leading to 32 Clemson points) and shot 56.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Letters to the Editor for Monday, November 16, 2009
It was quite disconcerting to read Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr.'s Nov. 13 letter regarding purported voter intimidation. If Falwell is truly incensed about intimidation, he should examine closely his own actions and those of other Liberty University officers such as Mat Staver. Liberty University definitely has the right to advocate for and advance its interests.

Letters to the Editor for Sunday, November 15, 2009
Do they wish to “disenfranchise the Liberty University student voters because they voted “the wrong way? Perhaps, Valentine's supporters should follow her lead and concede the election and search for ways to get out the vote of their supporters in a better way. LU voters were part of the solution for Garrett, but Valentine's base just didn't show up to vote for her. The right to vote is established by law, not by those who wish to gerrymander the way votes are cast.

Letters to the Editor for Saturday, November 14, 2009
Shannon Valentine's defeat in the 23rd District election all falling on Liberty University students, I felt compelled to write this letter. Darrell Laurant's column in The News & Advance on Nov. 5 talked about the students being bused to the polls “presumably to vote for (Republican Scott) Garrett. Don't you think some of them voted for Valentine? In Ward II, one precinct showed 29 percent voted this year compared to 56 percent last year; another precinct showed 29 percent voted compared to 60 p...
